Our Story
Ara Toitū was born from the evolution of Kaitiaki Collective, representing a new direction — one that brings together environmental expertise, business strategy, and kaupapa Māori values. Located in Te Taitokerau and guided by a deep connection to whenua and whānau, we work alongside iwi, hapū, Māori enterprises, corporates and NGOs to build capability, strengthen sustainability performance and restore balance to the way they do business.
Our mahi spans environmental strategy, sustainability, and business support services connected by cultural integrity and practical solutions. At its heart, Ara Toitū is about walking an enduring path — one that uplifts people, protects the environment, and ensures prosperity for generations to come.
We currently have experts in sustainability, environmental science, project management, research, case study development, Iwi and hapū environmental management, engagement, facilitation, communications and marketing ready to support you.

Alyx Pivac (MSc | MBA)

Alyx Pivac holds a Master of Science and an MBA, with early career experience in the fisheries industry in Japan and Aotearoa specialising in communications and sustainability. With a strong understanding of data-driven storytelling, she has applied her research and business expertise to help organisations pursue and achieve their environmental goals. Drawing on her extensive background in western science, mātauranga, and environmental and business strategy, Alyx is committed to delivering high-quality, on-time, and within-budget projects that provide tailored solutions for each client.
Chance Thompson (PGDipApplBus)
Ngāti Hau, Ngātiwai, Ngāpuhi
Chance’s background is engineering. He just knows how things work and how he can make them work for you. Chance is qualified in Project Management and knows how to optimise things for your team or project to ensure you feel at ease when working with us.
Chance understands that communication is imperative to making projects work and is passionate about making sure your project is delivered on time and everyone knows what to expect.
